wandered off and saw
V for
Vendetta last week. I must say, it was better than I was
expecting. The one personal opinion I heard about the movie
beforehand was not a positive personal opinion. It came from a
knowledgeable source as well, which worried me.
Regardless, I was impressed. It
was a good flick, and for not seeing his face at all during the
movie, Hugo Weaving kicked ass. It was just one of those
performances in which you can tell he quite enjoyed the role --
especially the flurry of v-word consonance when V first meets Evey.
Personally, my favorite scene was
the showdown between V and Creedy (the whole, "Ideas are
bulletproof" thing). The sequence was surprisingly gorier than I
thought it was going to be going into it. Regardless, I was taken
aback at how beautifully it was shot, especially the quick clip of V
slicing someone up in the background as Creedy emptied the six spent
shells from his revolver in an ultra close-up, ultra slow-motion
shot. Awesome.
V for Vendetta has already taken
spot
#232 in IMDB's Top 250.
Along the lines of "things that
kick ass in theaters," the season feels like it's starting to pick
up a little bit. I really want to see
Inside Man, and will probably talk a few friends into
accompanying me this weekend.
Finally, I've shamelessly added a
graphic to the collection of eye-candy links to the right: Jackson
Marten's "The
Wish List of Vengeance," hosted by
Amazon.com. Do
you dig the site? Give me some love. I don't mind -- honest!
